MetAnon AP05 – Project Z Sessions 4/5

Note: This is not a regular episode. This is an Actual Play recording of our (fourth and) fifth online game session with Erik and a handful of friends and listeners, played entirely over Google Hangouts. The game is a zombie apocalypse scenario set in an isolated town in southern Colorado. We strongly recommend you listen to the previous Actual Play episodes before enjoying this one.

The Metagamers Anonymous Actual Play series is sponsored by Lone Wolf Development, makers of Hero Lab!

Due to a technical misfire, the fourth episode of this series was actually lost.  Fortunately, little in the way of story development occurred during this session, and I took a moment to explain the relevant details at the start of the recording.  During the fifth session, our PCs finally encounter a small horde of zombies, as well as an enormous beast that may or may not have begun as something human… The system is Savage Worlds. For GMs who are interested in running a similar scenario, we used the Welcome to Mortiston, USA! setting product from Scrying Eye Games. If you are interested in online gaming with Savage Worlds, you might also consider Google Hangouts and Tabletop Forge (now Roll20!).

MetAnon AP03 – Project Z Session 3B

Note: This is not a regular episode. This is an Actual Play recording of our third online game session with Erik and a handful of friends and listeners, played entirely over Google Hangouts.

During the third session, our PCs approach the pharmacy where a vicious biker gang called the Pythons is currently holed up. This recording is the second part of the session, during which the heroes take on a dangerous biker gang holed up in the local pharmacy, which has the medical supplies they so desperately need… The system is Savage Worlds. As none of the players have any prior experience with the system or with gaming via videoconferencing, some of the recorded material includes details about system mechanics and the occasional challenge associated with the medium. For GMs who are interested in running a similar scenario, we used the Welcome to Mortiston, USA! setting product from Scrying Eye Games. If you are interested in online gaming with Savage Worlds, you might also consider Google Hangouts and Tabletop Forge.

During the third session, our PCs approach the pharmacy where a vicious biker gang called the Pythons is currently holed up.  This recording is the first part of the session, during which the heroes join forces with the local sheriff and attempt to devise a plan of attack.  In the second portion of the session, you will hear the PCs’ plan go into action… The system is Savage Worlds. As none of the players have any experience with the system or with gaming via videoconferencing, some of the recorded material includes details about system mechanics and the occasional challenge associated with the medium. MetAnon AP02 – Project Z Session 2

Note: This is not a regular episode. This is an Actual Play recording of our second online game session with Erik and a handful of friends and listeners, played entirely over Google Hangouts. The game is a zombie apocalypse scenario set in an isolated town in southern Colorado. If you have yet to listen to the first episode, we strongly recommend it.

During the second session, our five PCs venture out into the city to secure medical supplies for the wounded gathered at the diner… and they finally encounter their first zombie. Predictably, hijinks ensue. The system is Savage Worlds. As none of the players have any experience with the system or with gaming via videoconferencing, some of the recorded material includes details about system mechanics and the occasional challenge associated with the medium. For GMs who are interested in running a similar scenario, we used the Welcome to Mortiston, USA! setting product from Scrying Eye Games. Savage Worlds – Project Z Session 1

mortistoncoverProject Z is a zombie apocalypse scenario set in an isolated town in southern Colorado. During the first session, our five PCs don’t actually encounter any zombies… instead, they are independently located somewhere in the middle of town when a small suitcase nuke goes off in the north side of the city. This short session details their immediate activities just prior to and immediately following the explosion.
